Bangalore: Faced with widespread demand for a probe into Wednesday’s assault on ATI DG V. Rashmi at ATI premises when she went there to pay her last respects to Mess Manager who was found dead at a sump in the premises, Karnataka Police have intensified investigations into the case.

It is said that on instructions from Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherji who looked into allegations of misappropriation of funds at the ATI levelled by IAS officer V. Rashmi in a letter written to him, senior IAS officer T.M. Vijaya Bhaskar will be submitting a report on the alleged scam in the next few days.
Vijaya Bhaskar, Principal Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR), speaking to Star of Mysore, said that he had collected all related documents on the alleged scam and facts would be revealed after a detailed study of the documents.
It may be recalled that assault on Rashmi, who had turned a whistleblower while exposing the Rs. 100 crore scam at ATI housed in Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s home town, had triggered widespread protests including a tweet by Union Railway Minister D.V. Sadanandagowda, who has said that Karnataka was no longer a safe place for sincere and honest officials.
Sources said that the Government, which, on Wednesday, transferred Rashmi from the post of the Director General of ATI withdrew the same within hours as such a move would have boomeranged on the government as it would have appeared as though the government was unwilling to act on Rashmi’s recommendation for a CBI or a Lokayukta probe against Amita Prasad, who happens to be the wife of ADGP (Intelligence) A.M. Prasad, known for his proximity to CM Siddharamaiah.
