Bengaluru: A 54-year-old man was taken into custody by the security personnel at CM Siddaramaiah’s official residence ‘Krishna’ after they found him with the possession of a knife.
The incident occurred on Monday morning. According to sources, the man identified as H M Lingaraju from Mysuru had arrived to CM’s residence to submit a petition. He managed to enter inside the premises, when a group of agitators were trying to enter the residence.

However, the security personnel took him into custody thereby bringing the situation under control. It is learnt that the man is unemployed. Police also revealed that he is mentally disturbed. Sources quoted him saying to police that a helicopter had dropped him to Siddaramaiah’s residence.

Speaking to media persons, Sandeep Patil, DCP Central said, “Investigations reveal that Lingaraju had come to Mr. Siddaramaiah’s house to submit a petition. Before allowing them to meet the minister, the security personnel who conduct a thorough check, upon frisking, found an old rusted knife in his pocket. He was immediately detained. When we asked as to why he was carrying a knife, he said he uses it for cutting vegetables.”

“The man is mentally unstable. He was taken to High grounds police station where the doctors were called in for medical opinion and it was learnt that Lingaraju has a history of mental illness. The police who contacted their counterparts in Mysuru are also conducting a background check on Lingaraju. He will be produced before the judicial magistrate under Mental Health Act,” added Patil.
