Bengaluru: A student hailing from Manipur was beaten up by a group of three near the Byrathi Cross in Kothanur on Wednesday when he tried rescuing a girl who was being harassed by them. The incident happened at around 7.30 PM

Police identified the victim as Samuel (21) from Manipur. He is pursuing first-year B.A. in a private college.

Samuel had objected to a three man group  harassing a girl.  The trio, angered by his interference, beat him up and pushed him to the ground. Samuel suffered severe head injuries

For once, passersby stopped to help and the trio escaped. He was taken to hospital and the police informed.

The Kothanur police have registered a complaint.
