Chennai/Bangalore: Salim, another suspect wanted in connection with last weeks Bangalore blast, detained under Goonda Act in Salem Central Prison, Tamil Nadu, has been taken for questioning by the Karnataka police team.
Salim is said to be a relative of Kitchen Buhari, former member of banned Islamist outfit Al-Umma, who is among the three already arrested by the Karnataka police, in coordination with their Tamil Nadu counterparts. However, the police sources say recent reports of fresh arrests of five others in Chennai by NIA sleuths in connection with the case were “false.”
However, City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar denied that the City police had picked him up. “We have arrested three persons and the interrogation is on. The rumours of a joint team of Bangalore police and Tamil Nadu police picking up two more youths are not true,” he said.
The police said they have taken into custody 10 persons believed to be members of the banned terror outfit in Tamil Nadu, for questioning presuming that they might have some definite leads, but none of them have been arrested, the police said. “We have collected some details during the interrogation and verifying their authenticity. We believe some more people may have been behind the terror act,” the police said.
