Bengaluru: Vinod Kumar, assistant secretary of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) has urged the State government to stop hosting controversial Jallikattu and similar sports such as Kambala races in the state.
Vinod Kumar, in a letter to Chief Secretary of the State said that the state government should comply with the recent order of the Supreme Court which had stayed the notification issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, which allows Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.
Animal Welfare Board has also sent the copies of the letter to director general of police, the director of animal husbandry and veterinary services, deputy commissioners, superintendent of police of Mangaluru and Udupi.
