Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has drawn a comparison between the BBMP officials and the street side vendors while expressing its anger on BBMP for treating the issuance of Occupancy Certificate (OC) and Khata as a business by its officials.

A case was registered by Nakoda Construction Limited in the High Court against the BBMP for not issuing the OC in spite of completing the construction of their residential apartment at Hulimavu of the city.

Hearing the case, Judge SN Satyanarayan questioned Manjunath Parsad representing the BBMP about the working style of the BBMP officials.

The court asked the reasons for not issuing the OC in spite of having all the conditions satisfied by the builder. He also ordered the BBMP to list reasons in writing for stopping the registration of the builders’ flats by writing to the revenue department and summoned the BBMP officials Raghu and LC Nagaraj to be present for the hearing on April 12.

The Judge further said that an enquiry commission under a retired judge would be set up to probe the 396 cases where the issuing of OC is kept pending by the BBMP. If the commission finds anyone guilty such officials would be punished.
