Bengaluru: State Law minister T B Jayachandra categorically stated that the Tamil Nadu state government must foot the bill towards the expenses incurred by Karnataka government in J Jayalaitha and V K Sasikala disproportionate cases.
The Apex Court had instructed TN government to pay Rs 5 crores to Karnataka. However, all related expenses towards the long drawn legal battle incurred by the state have to be reimbursed by TN government, clarified Jayachandra.
Based on the direction of the Supreme Court, state had managed the case by appointing a public prosecutor. After the dismissal of the case in the high court, a petition was submitted later in SC. Hence, all expenses related to the case have to be borne by TN government said Jayachandra.
It may be noted, the apex court had instructed TN government to pay Rs 5 Crore towards expenses to Karnataka government in its directive on Tuesday, February 14.
