The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has been given the task of completing the admission process. In the first year, admissions will be done for 50 seats. Among these 50 seats 25 seats are reserved for Karnataka candidates. Rest of the 25 seats are considered as All India Quota (AIQ).
Admission test will be conducted in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Kalaburugi, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune and Delhi.
Ambedkar School of Economics is the brainchild of Dr. N Prabhudev. He first proposed the institute inside Bangalore University campus in 2012 with the help of Jindal Foundation. Due to the stiff resistance from a group of academicians, the project was dropped twice. Following this, state government itself decided to start the school. Retired IAS officer Anup Pujari is the special officer of the Institute.
