Alert Farmer averts Major Train Mishap in Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagara: The alert famer whose farmland located besides the endangered culverts and train-tracks personnel averted a major train mishap, as the heavy downpour on last night damaged 2 culverts that lie between Chamarajanagar – Mysore rail route.

The two culverts were constructed just one-and-a-half kilometers away from Chamarajanagar railway station and 12 kilometers nearing to Mysore railway station.   The culverts developed cracks and a portion of construction was collapsed owing to overnightr rains and caused widened the gap between the tracks.  The alert farmers reported the matter to nearby station master, while the train-track workmen worked through to restore the normalcy.

As a result, the train services to Mysore were delayed for nearly 2 hours.  The train service that was supposed to chug-off from Chamarajanagar at 7.10am to Mysore departed only at 9.00am.

The next train that was supposed to chug-off at 10.40am departed 40 minutes late at 11.20am.  The presence of mind of farmer and co-ordination efforts of track maintenance men averted the imminent major tragedy.
