Bengaluru: The state government has offered four more months for people in the limits of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), 10 municipal corporations, and 260 local municipalities, who have built houses and developed housing extensions on or before October 19, 2013, to regularise their properties that have violated building bylaws.
A decision was taken at a meeting convened by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Saturday. Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig, Minister for Municipal Administration Eshwar Khandre, Bengaluru mayor, and other senior officials were present.
George told mediapersons after the meeting that a notification will be issued on Monday (January 2).
The High Court of Karnataka had dismissed petitions challenging the State government’s Akrama-Sakrama scheme (regularisation of properties) and facilitated the regularisation of domestic and commercial buildings violating municipal bylaws.
According to Minister George there would be no change in the penalty levied for regularization and penalty fixed while amending the Karnataka Town and Rural Planning Act would continue.
It is said that as Acts and norms are in place to facilitate Akrama-Sakrama, it has been decided against further amending the law.
