Bengaluru: At the time of Diwali, the Air Quality Index (AQI) dropped across the country leading to a countrywide debate. Surprisingly, in Bengaluru, air quality improved over the same period.
According to the data from the air quality monitoring centers established by the state pollution control board, Air Quality Index (AQI) improved from 110 to 108 in the railway station premises on both days of the Diwali festival. In other areas like Jayanagara V block (AQI 89), Basaveshwaranagara (AQI 73), and surrounding areas, the air quality was good.
But in Hebbala, the AQI was 89 as against 40 in other days. It is the only area where the quality of air has deteriorated.
