Bengaluru: Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy said on Sunday that action against heads of three other universities will be taken soon for alleged irregularities in their respective universities.
Speaking to mediapersons, Rayareddy said that the government would not heed to pressure and ensure that universities were free from corruption. Rayareddy further stated that universities were plagued with casteism and nepotism. “The Chief Minister has also said that action should be taken against those who have indulged in irregularities,” he said.
The minister informed that the government would recommend action against the former Vice-Chancellor of VTU, H. Maheshappa, who was suspended in March.
Vice-Chancellors of KSOU, K.S. Rangappa and M.G. Krishnan and officials of KSOU were booked for alleged irregularities in universities. A case was filed at Jayalakshmipuram police station on Saturday under sections 406 and 409 of IPC.
On the direction from Governor, the present VC of KSOU Shivalingaiah and KSOU registrar PS Naik had filed complaint alleging financial irregularities during the tenure of former VCs. The complaint was filed based on audit report of KSOU which shed lights on financial irregularities.
