Bengaluru: Actor Prakash Raj’s recent tweet on Taj Mahal, taking a dig at the centre and Uttar Pradesh state governments has created a fresh uproar.
“Since you have started digging the foundation of #tajmahal, when do you intend to bring it down? We can at least take our children and show it one last time”,Prakash Raj tweeted reminding one of Babri Masjid demolition in the 90’s.
Prakash Raj’s tweet has not gone down too well with the saffron brigade as it left many associated with Sangh outfits left red-faced with strong reactions pouring against the tweet, which has given enough fodder for a fresh debate.
BJP leader Sangeet Som had first triggered the controversy by saying the Taj Mahal is a “blot” on Indian culture and went on to add that Shah Jahan, builder of the 17th century marble mausoleum wanted to wipe out Hindus from the country.
Sardhana MLA made the remarks in Meerut came after the Uttar Pradesh government removed the Taj Mahal from the list of attractions in its tourism booklet.
