Bengaluru: The government schools witnessed an increase in the annual admission for the first time in last 14 years.

According to the education minister Suresh Kumar, this year 90,000 additional students have been admitted to schools when compared to last year.

Speaking at the Karnataka Rajyotsava day celebrations organised by the Department of Public Instruction, he informed that due to Covid-19 pandemic and other crisis, parents are showing interest in the government schools.

“The teachers must now work hard to ensure that these students will remain in the government schools and no school faces the closure due shortage of students,” he said.

He also informed that the state government is ready to extend all the support to the government schools. “Infrastructure and teachers’ recruitment will be given emphasis,” he said.
