Bangalore: The Advocates Association Bangalore (AAB) on Thursday September 25 unanimously resolved to abstain from attending courts on Friday in protest against the recent attacks against Supreme Court judge Justice H L Dattu, who is set to become the next Chief Justice of India, and Justice K L Manjunath, the sitting judge of Karnataka High Court.
It also requested members of various bar associations in the state to join their protest today, September 26.
AAB President K N Subba Reddy stated that the association held a general body meeting on Thursday to discuss the role of advocates in protecting the independence of judiciary. He said that some unknown persons were trying to malign the two judges – Justice Dattu and Justice Manjunath.
Adding to it, Reddy said that Justice Manjunath had already come clean on the allegations against him and he was being unnecessarily targeted.
