
Bengaluru: The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police arrested a migrant labourer who attacked his pregnant wife with acid for not giving him Rs.10,000.
On February 20, Charanjit Bishwas, a resident of 24 Paragan district in West Bengal had attacked his pregnant wife and had gone absconding. They were married eight-years-ago.
After attacking his wife, Bishwas fled to his native village in West Bengal and the police tracked him down and arrested him.
According to the police sources, the couple had moved to Bengaluru from West Bengal with the idea of making money through surrogacy. “Bishwas wanted a share in the money earned by his wife. This eventually led to this incident,” said police.
The victim is recovering at the Victoria hospital of the city.
