Bengaluru: The Aam Admi Party’s (AAP) Karnataka unit urged the BBMP to launch an investigation into Auto Tipper scam which caused a huge loss to the exchequer.
Speaking to reporters, AAP state unit president Mohan Dasari informed that, as per the documents, presently 2,580 tipper autos are being used to transport garbage. As much as Rs 57,000 is spent every month on the auto. In reality, however, only 1,230 autos are being used to transport the garbage. The remaining 1,350 autos are only on paper.
“Where are these extra autos? Who is paying the money? Why is GPS is not made compulsory? Why has no action been initiated against the authorities involved in this scam?” he questioned.
“This is a big scam. Every month, over a hundred crores are misused. There is an urgent need for an investigation,” he said.
According to sources in the BBMP, the issue is already under investigation.
