Ramanagara : The Shree Chennigarayaswamy Temple in Solur Hobali Koramangala village in Magadi Taluk, which has been renovated in coastal architectural style at a cost of Rs 5 cores today stands tall and majestic and attracting devotees from far and wide.




The temple is said to be of Chola times. As per information available in the Turuvekere inscription, a small chariot and 45 acre land was donated to Koramangala Chennigaraya during the rule of Rajendra Irungovan. There is also reference to the visit of Vijayanagara Achyutharaya, the chieftain of Solur Seeme to Ennegere Palepette when he offered prayers to Veeraballala Chennigarayaswamy and made donations. History also states that Magadi Kempegowda too was a devotee of this temple.
The Chennigarayaswamy Temple is 41 kms away from Bangalore. Its location is at Koramangala, which is one km away from Lakkenahalli on the Bangalore-Hassan Highway. From Ramanagara, this temple is 50 kms away.Devotees are served lunch in the temple every day.
The reinstallation of the idols in the renovated shrine was done by Sri Siddalinga Swamiji, the junior swamiji of Tumkur Siddaganga Mutt. The lamp post and chariot were also inaugurated by him. The dining hall was inaugurated by Kerala’s renowned astrologer Narayan Poduval. Basavalinga Swami of Bandemutt was also present.
Gangadharamurthi and Lokesh of the Sunkadakatte Patel Chennappa clan who were the brain behind the renovation, said the dilapidated temple structure was renovated with the help of generous contributions from devotees.They also informed that it took as many as 12 years for the renovation to be complete.
There was a mass Anna Santharpane on the occasion of the inaugural of the renovated shrine.
