Bengaluru: The BBMP has identified as many as 4,990 potholes on Bengaluru roads and that 3,872 potholes have already been filled.
According to the data collected by the BBMP through its zonal offices, highest number of potholes were found in East zone with 1,710 potholes. West zone (858), South zone (848), Bommanahalli zone (460), Mahadevapura zone (450) are the worst affected by the potholes.
“Potholes of only main roads are collected. Interior roads of various wards, layouts were not taken into account,” informed BBMP officials.
According to the BBMP commissioner Manjunatha Prasad, officers have been given 48 hours deadline to fill all the potholes.
What has surprised the BBMP is that all the major roads of the West, East and South zones were taken up only in the month of June. “Separate teams of officials have been formed to check the complaints related to quality of road works,” Prasad added.
