Bengaluru : Tragedy struck in Bengaluru as a four-year-old girl named Gianna Ann Jito tragically fell from the terrace of her pre-school on Monday. Despite receiving treatment for severe injuries at a private hospital in Karnataka’s capital, she sadly succumbed to her wounds on Thursday.
Gianna Ann Jito is survived by her parents, Jito Tomy Joseph and Binitta Thomas, both software engineers from Kerala. The incident occurred at a pre-school in the Chellikere area, under the jurisdiction of the Hennur police station.
Her father, Jito Tomy Joseph, filed a complaint against the pre-school authorities, alleging negligence. Initially, the police filed a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR), but later upgraded it to a First Information Report (FIR) on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the child suffered serious head injuries and injuries to other parts of her body. The parents revealed that the pre-school initially claimed Gianna had hit a wall, fell, and vomited, but later admitted she had fallen from the terrace.
The Hennur police have registered a case against the pre-school officials under sections 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to acts endangering human life due to negligence.
