Bengaluru: The State police department can rejoice this Dasara as a pay hike of 30-35 per cent was recommended by the committee headed by Raghavendra Auradkar, ADGP (Recruitment and Training).
Home Minister G Parameshwara received the report from the panel on Monday. The panel was formed after the recent strike threat of the police with demands for improvement of their work conditions, hike in salary and perks. The implementation of the report would be decided after a discussion with the CM, said Parameshwara.
Police constables could be getting Rs 18,200 from the present Rs 11,600 if the report is implemented by the State government. To sum up, there could be a hike of Rs 6,500 to Rs 8,500 in the salaries of the police personnel.
There would be hike in Uniform Allowance to Rs 500 per month, Fitness Allowance of Rs 500 and Risk Allowance of Rs 2,500 for continuous duty stretching for more than two days.
The findings of the report were put down after studying the pay scales of police personnel in 10 states, found that Karnataka ranked 8th in terms of pay scales for police personnel and recommended at least 30-35 per cent hike in their basic pay and liberal rise in their perks for non-IPS police personnel.
