300 police search inside Parappana Agrahara prison

Bengaluru: As many as 300 police personnel led by CCB additional commissioner Alok Kumar carried out a raid inside the Parappana Agrahara prison in the city, on Tuesday night. At the time of raids, they seized cash, ganja, and other banned items from the prison cells and toilets.

According to the sources, 6 DCPs, 15 ACPS, 30 inspectors, 12 dog squads were part of this raid. The raid started at 6.30 pm and continued beyond 10.30 pm.

The seized items include 15 mobiles, pen drives, knives etc,” informed police sources.

It can be recalled that presently 4,335 prisoners are inside the Parappana Agrahara prison, which has 810 barracks. 

According to the police, the raid was carried out as part of conducting free and fair elections. “There were complaints that a few anti-social elements issued a threat to voters from the prison. Keeping this in mind, this raid was conducted,” informed police.
