Bengaluru: An obsessed lover and his obsession for a girl led him to give her over 2,000 calls a day, several thousands of messages, blood-written letters, obscene pictures and much more. The police admit that they have not seen an obsession of this kind before after they nabbed Arun Shashidhar, a native of Kerala working in Bengaluru.

A former sales executive at a four-star hotel in Hebbal was nabbed for the second time by the Hebbal police and was jailed for 14-days, but nothing could stop him from stalking the girl, he claimed to be in love with.
It all started when Arun was appointed as a sales executive at the hotel in November last year and was deputed to work under this young lady, heading sales and marketing. Within a month Arun claimed he was in love with her and thus started harassing her. Her persistent warnings to back off never dissuaded Arun. A complaint to the General Manager by the lady rendered Arun jobless, but his obsession continued as he took to mobile and online to harass her.
After continued efforts to meet her at the hotel, Arun had once landed at her home, met her father and even proposed to marry her.
She filed a police complaint last month and he was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. However, the day Arun came out on bail, he went straight to her house, and spent the whole night in front of her house in the rain.
His parents took him away and even that did not work and now he is questioning her relationship with another man. The lady claims that Arun allegedly sent a snapshot of the word ‘Joker’ scrawled in his own blood.
In his messages, he claimed he had been diagnosed with mental problems, and that he was bipolar. According to the police, his parents are treating him for mental problems.
Under Section 354D of the Indian Penal Code, a stalker can be punished on first conviction with imprisonment of up to three years. On a second or subsequent conviction, the crime can attract a five-year jail term.
