Bangalore : State Transport Minister Ramalingareddy has informed that 2000 new buses would be added to the fleet of KSRTC buses for the convenience of the public.
Speaking to reporters here, the minister said the plans to introduce more buses aimed at strengthening the public transport system in city and rural areas. Presently, BMTC has 6000 buses and additional buses will be pressed in rural areas in the next two years.
The minister said steps would be taken to improve the services of the KSRTC by purchasing new buses using the 35 per cent financial aid under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission. The minister said in the wake of the good public response to the city bus services in some districts excluding Bangalore, the government is planning to extend the facility to more districts.
