Bengaluru: The Malleshwaram police have arrested two Nigerians for duping a city based doctor in dollar manufacturing scam. As per the scam, the doctor was to buy chemical worth Rs. six lakh, and this would help him convert blank dollar sized paper, into Rs. 2.5 crore worth of US Dollars.
The accused David Onami, (23) and Colins Ralph, (41), were nabbed when they landed up in Bangaluru to deliver the ” dollar consignment” The duo used the infamous ‘black dollar scam’ to lure Dr. H C . Kumar from Malleshwaram.
The duo posing as diplomats of the United States got in touch with Kumar through OLX.com on the pretext of selling a high-end car. The duo later lured Kumar to buy a chemical which could convert the blank papers into US dollars.
Falling for their trap, Kumar had deposited Rs six lakh into the bank account and later filed a complaint with police when the duo started demanding five lakh more.
The Malleshwaram police laid a trap and informed the duo that they are willing to buy the chemical and invited them to Bangalore. The police nabbed the duo when they landed in Bangalore with a briefcase containing five bottles of chemicals and 14 bundles of blank paper cut into the size of US dollars.
According to the police Colin Ralph had come to India on Study visa five years ago and overstayed in India since then. He came in contact with Orami who had recently visited India and the duo stayed in a rented place in Mohhamed Ali Road in Mumbai and used to lure people using fake identity and dupe them with the black dollar scam. The police are also on the lookout for another Nigerian who is on the run.
