Bengaluru: Kamalamma Linganagowda Hiregowdra, a resident of Kataraki village in Koppala district and taluk had tested positive last week. She was moved to her son’s residence in Koppala town to ensure her safety. She was treated in home isolation for seven days and now she tested negative.
What makes her remarkable recovery more interesting is she is 105 years old. As she had fever alone and no other comorbidity, the doctors took the risk of advising her home isolation instead of hospital admission. She also refused to get admitted to the hospital.
Kamalamma was treated by her grandson Dr. Shrinivas who is a medical doctor. He explained that as she had no other symptoms except for the fever, it was decided to treat at home.
Kamalamma is now the eldest COVID 19 recovered patient treated at home isolation in the entire country.
