
Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will honour 100 Covid-19 warriors at the City’s Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta informed that, Covid-19 warriors will participate as special invitees, including healthcare experts, frontline workers, and 25 people who have recovered from the virus.
According to the sources, he stated, “There will be no cultural event this year owing to the pandemic. All guests must wear masks and adhere to social distancing rules. The celebrations will take place in accordance with the Centre’s Standard Operating Procedures.”
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said that, “The Chief Minister will receive a guard of honour from 10 battalions (470 personnel) from various wings of law enforcement agencies in the state,
On the parade grounds, 60 CCTV cameras and baggage scanners have been installed. Ambulances and fire trucks will be on standby in case of emergency.
In addition, 1500 security personnel will be stationed for the event. Cigarettes, matchboxes, pamphlets, knives, dark clothing, food items, photos, wine, water bottle, flags, and crackers are among the goods that invitees will not be allowed to bring. The event will be streamed live on the internet and broadcasted on Doordarshan Chandana.
