Bengaluru/Chikkamagaluru: A case which was filed by Deepak Mayur against multi-lingual actor Kiccha Sudeep for not paying the rent for using his farmhouse during the shoot of Kannada daily soap “Varasdhara” was quashed by the Karnataka High Court on Saturday, February 15.

It can be recalled that Deepak had alleged that Sudeep had not paid the rent for using his farmhouse located in the Baigoor village of the Chikkamagaluru district. The farmhouse was being used for shooting of “Varasdhara”, produced under Kiccha Creations’ banner. Sudeep was reportedly supposed to pay Deepak a sum of Rs 1, 50, 000. The farmhouse owner later filed a case against the actor with the court.

Based on this, the Second Additional Sessions Court of Chikkamagalur had issued a warrant against Sudeep. Later, the actor’s lawyer, Gopinath had taken the matter to the Karnataka High Court.

Now, after being in court for the past several months, the case finally came to a conclusion on Saturday, with the High Court pronouncing the verdict in Sudeep’s favour.

Gopinath argued that the farmhouse owner filed the suit with the intention of maligning Sudeep’s image. He said that Deepak was facing a financial crisis as his other businesses were not making any profit, hence, to cover up the loses, he was trying to squeeze the money of the Sandalwood actor.

After listening to the arguments placed by both parties, the court said that there was no evidence against the actor and quashed the case, pronouncing a verdict in favour of the defendent.
