Bengaluru: In protest against increasing online and off line transaction charges and penalty for not maintaining minimum balance in all types of bank accounts, bank customers have decided to observe a no transaction day on Thursday, April 6.

Even though no organisation or political party has endorsed this call, few individual activists are spreading the message via social media. “Both on Facebook and twitter, no transaction day is a trending topic. Many users have extended the support voluntarily. This is just a symbolic protest against the high handedness of our banks which are imposing several new charges on the customers for using their services,” says Josi George, a volunteer who is spreading the awareness in this regard.

Meanwhile users who have formed a network via social media have decided to observe three days no transaction days on April 24, 25 and 26 if banks fail to respond to their demands. “What is importance is raising our voice against the unilateral decisions taken by the banks. We wish our effort will force the banks to reconsider their decision,” said George.
