Bengaluru: The ‘Marimuthu’ of Kannada silver screen Sarojamma passed away on the wee hours of Saturday. She was 60.

Sources said that she had suffered cardiac arrest on Friday night and was shifted to hospital where she breathed her last.

Sarojamma had acted in more than 15 Kannada films and mostly donned antagonist roles.

She shot to fame in her very first film ‘Upendra’, directed by Upendra, in which she played the character of a rough and tough lady, Marimuthu.

The role of Marimuthu made her the most sought actress for such roles and also got her the nick name Marimuthu Sarojamma.
