Bengaluru: The State government has officially announced the creation of a controversial ‘Bengaluru Vision Group’ amid opposition from different quarters of the society.

This non-constitutional body will be headed by CM and will have 23 members including ministers, NGOs, industrialists and others.

Software company giants like Narayana Murthy, Azim Premji, Biotec Chairperson Kiran Majumdar are a part of the group, a press release said.

The commissioners of BDA, BBMP and BMRDL will also be in the core group along with all the state ministers elected from the city.

The formation of the group was floated a few months back, but orders were issued on April 28 to nominate the persons and organisations to be included.

The group is basically formed to foresee the required infrastructure for the city’s development and planning.

The announcement stirred vivid reactions, mostly negative, from public and other agencies citing CM Siddaramaiah favouring an NGO which blundered with TenderSure contract earlier.
