
Sindhagi: State Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy has advised the youths to prefer simple wedding celebrations without wasting their hard-earned money.
Speaking at a mass wedding organised by Dr. Manjula Foundation, Minister Reddy lauded Dr. Manjula Govardhanamurthy for opting for a simple wedding and also extending financial help to 25 couples who were married at the function. “Dr. Manjula Govardhanamurthy couple has the money to celebrate their marriage on a grand scale but they preferred to ensure that their wedding is simple and extended financial assistance to the couples from economically poor families. With this, she has become a role model for the youth’’, the minister said.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Transport M Revanna said Dr. Manjula had many plans for the development of Sindhagi. “To implement the plans for development, she started Dr. Manjula Foundation which has organised the mass wedding function. Congress will select her to contest from Sindhagi in the next Assembly elections’’, the minister said.
Dr. Manjula said wedding is an important event but many would not have the finances to make it a memorable one. “Our objective is to help the needy people. The money saved from our wedding has been spent for the wedding of 25 couples’’, she said.
