Vijayapura: With the release of around 2.25 lakh cusecs of water from Almatti dam and also discharging of a huge quantity of water by Maharashtra from its dams, the villages located on the banks of Krishna and Bhima in the district may face a flood situation.
The District Administration has already sounded alert and cautioned the people not to venture into the River and stay away from entering the River for any reason.
Meanwhile, following the huge release of water from the Almatti dam, the water entered several fields located on the River bank and the standing crop got inundated.
The water entered the field of Araladinni village where the farms of several farmers witnessed stagnation of water threatening damage to the standing crop.
The district administration has informed that since Maharashtra released over 70,000 cusecs of water from the Ujini dam, the water has flowed into the Bhima River. The residents of Indi taluk located on the Bhima River banks are not facing a flood-like situation. The district administration has already asked the people not to go near the River.
The officials have asked the people of Indi, Chadachan, Sindgi and Almel which are located on the Bhima River, not to go near the River or take their cattle for grazing as it could prove dangerous.
The officials gave emergency helpline numbers 1077, 0835221261 and 221222 for calling for any emergency.
