Vijayapura: In a tragic incident, a man and his father-in-law, who had gone to irrigate a sugarcane field, died after falling into a canal at Masuti Village in Kolhar Taluka of the District.

The deceased have been identified as Ashok Veerabasappa Angadageri and son-in-law Chandrashekar Eerappa Dengi (40).

On Monday December 5 evening, a man Ashoka who had gone first to release water from the canal to the fields, slipped and fell into the canal. Later, his son-in-law Chandrasekhar, who came to the rescue of his father-in-law, also got into the canal and was washed away in the overflowing canal.

Their body was recovered on Tuesday December 6.
