Vijayapura: A gruesome mishap that occurred on NH-13, along Vijayapura-Sholapur at about 2.45 am on Sunday claimed lives of as many as six persons, including a two-year-old child.

It is said that a total of 17 labourers had come from Maharashtra to Galagali village in Bagalkot for harvesting sugarcane. After the work, they were returning to Maharashtra in a tractor when a container truck collided against the tractor from behind.

While four labourers died on the spot, two others died in the hospital, it is learnt. As many as 12 labourers injured in the mishap are undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Arohi Daale (2), Biraj Dambala (40), Vimal Dambala (65), Mumtaz Baig (40), Mainur Baig 940), Mustaqeem Baig (30).
The most of the labourers are said to be employed in Nandi Sugar mill of Beed-Parabani in Maharashtra.
