Vijayapura: Excise Minister RB Timmapur has stirred controversy by likening Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is embroiled in a sex scandal, to Lord Krishna.
In a viral video, Timmapur, drew parallels between Prajwal Revanna and the Hindu God.
Addressing media in Vijaypura, Timmapur remarked in Kannada, “As MB Patil said, this pendrive issue, there is nothing as bad as this that has happened in the nation. This might create a Guinness World Record. Sri Krishna lived together with multiple women with devotion. It was not like that in the case of Prajwal. I guess he wants to break that record.”
The BJP swiftly condemned Timmapur’s comments, demanding his resignation. Former Karnataka minister CT Ravi of the BJP said, “Congress leader in the Karnataka government has insulted Lord Krishna. He should be immediately removed from the Cabinet and party; otherwise, we will protest against him.”
In response, the Congress distanced itself from Timmapur’s statement. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate denounced the remark, stating, “I denounce this statement. I distance myself from this statement. This is not the official stand of the party. Revanna is a monster. It’s not the party’s stand.”
