My priority is to provide facilities to priests, temples: Minister Jolle

Vijayapura: Minister for Muzrai, Wakf and Haj, Shashikala Jolle said that she will strive to ensure that the priests of all temples coming under the department will get required facilities.

Addressing media persons after offering prayers at Siddeshwara temple on Monday August 9, she said it her priority to provide facilities to the priests as a minister. She was paying her first visit to district after taking charge as District In-charge Minister

“Besides facilities to the priest, facilities should also be given to devotees who visit these temples. They should get water, sanitation, accommodation and other basic facilities at the temple,” she said.

Jolle said that since neighbouring states too have several important temples which are visited by devotees of Karnataka, efforts will be made to provide facilities at these temples also for people of Karnataka.

“We need to construct more buildings at these temples for accommodation facilities for the devotees of Karnataka. States such as Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have several noted temples. Here facilities will be provided to devotees of Karnataka,” the Minister said.

Jolle, who is also District In-Charge Minister of Vijayapura, said that she is offering prayers at the temple seeking divine intervention for the society to get rid of Covid pandemic quickly.

With regard to Covid pandemic, she said that already many check posts have been set up on the bordering areas of the district to prevent the entry of people from other States. She said that more medical staff and police have been deputed at these check posts. However, she sought public cooperation in preventing the spread of Covid, mainly the possible third wave.
