Vijayapura: Replying to the statement of BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal that those Hindus who have self respect should not vote for the Congress, Lakshaman Savadi, the Congress leader has shot back by stating that Hindus are not the property of BJP.
“Hindus have the right to vote for any party of their choice and therefore they are with all the parties, not just the BJP,” he said.
Addressing mediapersons on May 3, Savadi however sarcastically replied that he does not wish to comment much on the statement of Yatnal because ‘Yatnal is a big leader to reply’.
Alleging that during the last over three years of the BJP rule, the Government did not make any specific projects for the farmers in the State, he said that the Government has even stopped programmes such as Krishi Bhagya, subsidy for purchase of tractors and farm pond.
“All these projects were started by the Congress during its tenure, but the BJP Government stopped these pro-farmer schemes due to which there is a growing discontent among the farmers against the BJP in the State,” said Savadi.
He claimed that the BJP is suffering from anti-incumbency and internal bickering which will lead to the miserable defeat of the party in the coming election.
Savadi said that as the public sentiments have tilted towards the Congress, the party will form the Government with a comfortable majority of 130 seats.
In his address, KPCC Campaign Committee Chairman, M. B. Patil continued to accuse the BJP of trying to suppress and ill-treat Lingayat leaders of the party.
“The clear example for it is the unceremonious removal of B. S. Yediyurappa from the post of CM and denial of ticket to the prominent leaders such as Jagadish Shettar and Lakshman Savadi in the present assembly polls,” he said.
