Vijayapura: Former Union minister and BJP leader Basanagowda Pateel Yatnal who was disheartened over not getting BJP ticket for the MLC polls has decided to contest as independent candidate.

Even though two candidates can be fielded, BJP has given ticket only for present BJP member G S Nyamagowda.

Upset over not having been given a ticket, Yatnal will be filing his nomination as an Independent candidate today.
