Vijayapura: Describing the recent CBI raids on the properties of KPCC president D K Shivakumar as an act backed by ill intensions to prevent him from campaigning in the bypolls, former Karnataka home minister and Congress MLA M B Patil asserted that no amount of pressure tactics will affect the party’s morale in the upcoming elections.

“The party will fight these pressure tactics firmly and our candidates will register a victory in the Sira and RR Nagar bypolls,“ he said.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Patil said that the BJP is misusing the central investigating agencies to score political points and divert the public’s attention from the elections.

“There is no doubt that the CBI has the authority to raid the properties of any person in India, but looking at the timings of the raids, it is clear that BJP is misusing the CBI to silence the voice of the Opposition,” Patil added.

He also alleged that, even in the past, the CBI was used by the BJP to politically suppress Shivakumar.

Patil reiterated that the Congress party will overcome all these obstacles and none of these will affect the party’s morale in the elections.
