Belagavi: Congress candidate from Belgavai North and MLA Feroz Saith was quick to clarify that the video clip circulating on the social media that his supporters had chanted slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” was doctored.
A clip was making rounds on the social media showing people, who are allegedly the supporters of Feroz Saith, shouting slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad.” This video had sparked protests from a group of advocates in the city led by Advocate Pravin Karoshi and Shadakshari Hiremath. They staged a protest in front of the City Corporation, Belagavi and urged the Election Commission to take immediate action against MLA Feroz Saith and those who shouted anti-India slogans. They also urged the EC to cancel the candidature of Saith for “involving in anti-national activities.”
In a quick reaction, Feroz Saith called a press meet on May 9 to clarify the matter. He claimed that the video clip was tampered.
Saith also said that he would file a complaint with the cyber crime division against the people who tampered the video to defame him days before the elections were due.
Denying any such incident having happened at his rally, Saith said that the video was aimed at inciting communal violence and defaming his clean image. He said, “The Saith family has good relations with all communities and therefore I have good support. Opponents are trying to create communal disturbances to gain political mileage.”
He also demanded that those who tampered the video must be caught quickly and punished.
