Belagavi: Three kids who ventured into a quarry pond drowned at Mannur village of Belagavi taluk on Sunday noon.

The deceased kids are Sahil Manohar Balekundri(13), Akash Kallappa Chougule(12) and Kushan Kallappa Chougule(15) all residents of Mannur village.

According to the police officials, five kids ventured out to learn swimming and went to the pond located about one km away from the village. All of them had carried empty oil cans to prevent themselves from drowning and the three had tied the cans under their arms, while two remained on the bank and watched them.

When the three did not return, the two raised alarm. However, when the villagers reached the spot it was late.
