Belagavi: The BJP has promised to solve the longstanding Mahadai issue merely within six months if the party is voted to power in the state. BJP national President Amit Shah, during a campaign in Soundatti on Sunday said this and it gains more importance as it comes as repetition of what Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at Gadag on Saturday.

Shah was trying to convince the voters in the Mallaprabha basin to vote for the party. Apart from Mahadayi, Shah also touched upon the weak point of the
Belagavi people- the light of sugarcane growers. He said that if BS Yeddyurappa comes to power again, the bills of the sugarcane growers will be cleared within 100 days, as it is done in Uttar Pradesh.

He questioned why the Rs 2.19 lakh cr funds released by the centre for Karnataka have not reached the villages. “It seems the development has only reached the Congress buildings. These are the only buildings that have grown from ground floor to four storeys,” he said.

After campaigning in Soudatti, Amit shah participated in the Road show at Belagavi South constituency to campaign for BJP candidate Abhay Patil in evening.
