Belagavi: A senior scribe was killed in a road accident while returning from a family vacation here near Nandagada in Khanapur taluk on January 14.

Dr Veeresh Hiremut is the deceased. His wife Gauri and car driver Sunil suffered serious injuries in the mishap.

Hiremut was returning from Goa with his family to Bagalkot when the accident took place. According to reports, the car driver who fell asleep on the way lost control and hit a roadside tree near Nandagada.

The body of Hiremut has been shifted to Dharwad Civil hospital. A case has been registered by Nandagada police.

Hiremut was presently serving as journalism lecturer at Bagalkot BVV college.
