Belagavi: Residents of Ramdev Galli have brought a stay order from the High Court restricting the Belgaum City Corporation from demolishing their structures.
The residents brought the stay following a BCC proposal to draw a master plan of their area that will entitle razing of structures. The residents including traders, met deputy commissioner N. Jayram and brought to his notice that the HC’s stay on dispossession till the next date of hearing.
The DC assured that no action would be initiated on properties which have got a stay order.
In the writ petition filed before the High Court the residents stated that they were in favor of development, but it must be implemented as per the procedure and law.
BCC commissioner Ravi Kumar had recently said he would clear all encroachments. In response advocate Potdar said the structure which will be affected if the master plan is implemented which were constructed way back in 1940 when there was no Comprehensive Development Plan. Terming all building as encroachments was not fair and not according to the law.
