Belagavi: Rakhi is a bond between a brother and his sister that he would protect her till his last breathe. However, a young girl lost her life fighting to purchase a Rakhi- a bond of security for her brother.

The incident took place at Malaprabhanagar of Belagavi and the victim is Mahadevi Gollar (23) who hanged herself after her husband refused to give her money to purchase a rakhi for her brother.

It is said that Mahadevi had kept forth a demand for a mere Rs 10 before her husband so that she could purchase a Rakhi for her brother. When Ashok, her husband turned down the request, dejected Mahadevi ended life.

Ashok and Mahadevi entered wedlock three years ago after falling in love with each other.

Shahapur police registered case against Ashok Gollar.
