Belagavi/Khanapura: Merely two weeks after Goa Water Resource Minister Vinod Palekar’s visit to Kalasa canal area of Khanapur taluk, Goa Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker, 2 MLAs and several other officials visited the place on Sunday, without any prior intimation.
The delegation visited Mavuli temple of Kanakumbi and collected information from the locals. A 40-member delegation including Goa Assembly Speaker Pramod Savanth, Deputy Speaker Michel Lobo, 2 MLAs, former MLAs and others inspected the locality and even videographed the visit.
Pramod Savanth and Michel Lobo alleged that Karnataka clearly violated the order of the tribunal and it will be brought to the notice of Goa Assembly. As the trials in Mahadayi Tribunal will begin from February 6, the visit of Goa delegation has gained more importance.
Meanwhile, there were rumors that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parikkar had visited Kalasa canal area along with the delegation on Sunday early morning to inspect the place. This caused anger and curiosity from various corners in the state. However, the news was proved fake, and Belagavi SP Sudhir Kumar Reddy himself clarified that Goa CM didn’t visit the place and stayed in Panaji itself.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the government had asked Goa to follow the protocol, but they didn’t inform about the visit. The state has not continued any constructions at the place.
