Dharwad: Sankranti Kavigoshti, an annual programme of poem recital held on the eve of Sankranti festival consoled the souls of audience and poets alike, here on Thursday night.
The Dr. D R Bendre National Memorial Trust had organised the annual event at Bendre Bhavan in Sadhankere, wherein intellectuals, students and writers had gathered in large numbers, creating a festive environment.
The young poets who had come from across the state including Chandani, Mamata Arasikere, K B Veerlingangouda, Swamy Ponnachi, C S Patil, Ajeya Verma, Prakash Jalahalli, Satyamangal Mahadadev among others recited their poems much to the applause of audience on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, noted writer Subbu Holeyar of Bengaluru said, “When you take the name of Dharwad, the picture of late poet Bendre who responded to people’s issues through his pen comes before you. His works create oneness between his poems and yourself”, he said. He hoped the ideologies of personalities like Bendre, Vivekananda and Allamaprabhu would guide the young generation to a bright future.
Trust President Dr. Shyamsundar Bidarkundi, member Narasimh Paranjape among other intellectuals, were present.
