Women called upon to come up with autobiographies

Dharwad: Former chairman of Karnataka Sahitya Academy Gurulinga Kapse has asked successful women writers to come out with their autobiographies to let people know how they reached the top and inspire others to tread the path of success.

Speaking after presenting the awards instituted by Gangamma Somappa Bommai Pratisthana to three writers-actor Bhargavi Narayana, Muddu Teerthahalli and Sannaveerappa Doddamani-at a function in Dharwad.

He said the women writers in Marathi were coming out with more autobiographies and Kannada writers should follow suit. The autobiography by theatre personality Bhargavi Narayan makes impressive reading as it reveals the hardship as well as joyous moments encountered by the actress in her journey to success.

Writer Hema Pattanshetti hailed Bhargavi Narayan for her feat in the field of theatre and small screen while managing a job and family and said, the autobiography “Naanu Bhargavi” would inspire women readers to face the challenges of life boldly and continue their pursuit for success.
Bhargavi Narayana was presented the “Akka” award for her biography, while Muddu Teerthahalli was honoured with the “Aralu Moggu” award for her novel “Kaadu Haadiya Hoogalu.” Sannaveerappa Doddmani was presented “Jaanapada Siri” award for his research work on Shillikyataru community. The award carries Rs 25,000 cash, citation and a memento.

Pontiff of Murughamatt Mallikarjun Swamiji, MLAs Basavaraj Bommai, Arvind Bellad and Mallikarjun Bommai were present.
