Dharwad: Noted film director T.S. Nagabharana said that with every passing day the Kannada filmland is turning into a horror, with only illusionary stories being made films.

Delivering a talk on ‘Films & Society’ organised as part of M C Shantangoudar endowment lecture programme at Karnatak Vidyavardhakh Sangha in Dharwad, Nagabharana said, “We Indians have failed to make proper use of digital technology, and hence indiscipline has continued to dominate here.”

The film medium is generating more of ‘killing culture’ as the visual media, has turned from bad to worse by forgetting its ethics, he said.

Family movies have vanished and unethical movies are ruling the roost, hence parents have stopped taking children to cinema halls, he said.

Supreme Court Judge Mohan Shantangoudar said, “Cinema has much influence on society as the people are innocent and believe what is shown. Hence, the responsibility of visual media is more as its impact is more effective than any other medium of communication,” he added.

Nadoja Patil Puttappa, actor-turned politician B C Patil, Deputy Commissioner S B Bommanahalli, SP G Snageeta, judges of various courts and others were present.
